Historic Food and Wine Routes from the Minoan Period to Today
June 4 - 9, 2012

A fantastic program designed for enthusiasts of archaeology, botany and cuisine. Explore Crete's cultural and
natural treasures with resident specialists. Discover a taste of Crete’s fascinating heritage while supporting important
cultural heritage preservation initiatives of the present. Our professionally guided tours and presentations are
private and customized for our small group of 12 attendees.

Program Highlights :

History:  
Join resident licensed historians for private tours of the Historic Sites of Knossos, Festos and Gortyna
Music:  Visit the Labyrinth Traditional Musical Instrument Museum and enjoy casual local musical performances
Traditional Cuisine:  Dinners and cooking demos featuring regional specialties from wild and cultivated sources
Organic Wine:  Visit several gorgeous organic vineyards for presentations and tastings
Botany and Geology:  Explore Crete's beautiful countryside with resident ecologists (optional hikes)

Locations:

Days 1 to 3:  Heraklion Area, North-Central Crete
A taste of Minoan culture, traditional music, botany, organic food and wine.

Day 4 and 5: South-Central Region and Coast
Visit ancient sites, organic farms and a fantastic organic winery.

Day 6:  Travel day.

Seminar Fees include: Accommodation, expert guide fees, museum/site entrance fees, transportation to/from
scheduled tours, all scheduled food and wine tastings, daily breakfasts (continental), and most lunches and
dinners. Menus are preplanned, featuring an array of Cretan dishes using fresh, local and organic ingredients
whenever possible, to sample as part of the seminar, and regional wine during dinner. Accommodation in
Heraklion is in a centrally-located 4-star hotel. Accommodation on the south coast is in distinctive lodging with
traditional touches and modern amenities.

Seminar Fees do not include: Travel to Crete or any other transportation, lodging, food or drinks not listed above.
